Is she back from the dead???

Thu Sep 17, 2009, 8:43 PM
Maaaaaaybe.

I am here this fine evening, keeping much-needed sleep at bay, to announce that my 'Clue' self-challenge still stands. I have freed myself of unnecessary stress by simplifying the rules, however. I am, if you don't know, not really a very good artist. Sometimes I can do pretty fine work, but it is not easy for me. As I'm sure you know all too well, becoming a great artists takes persistence and time, but I do not have much of the latter--though, I'm working on it.

Today I began working on an image (purely on the computer, which is rather new to me) to play around a bit, have fun, and maybe use it as a de-stresser. This image has become the first in the 'Clue' (or as I'm coming to prefer, oddly, the original UK name for it: 'Cluedo' ) series. I'm still working on her, but it's coming seeing as how I'm actually having some fun at it.

The new guidelines are that this first round is bust-only portraits of each character. This round will be in a more cartoon-ish fashion, simplifying it further. This is for fun, folks, not to make me pull out my hair or feel anxious at the thought. I am no longer trying to draw perfect depictions of these beloved characters. This self-challenge was made to help me develop my drawing skills and as such I will begin simply and work my way to more complicated endeavors. Round one will be busts, round two: who knows. I'll keep this journal up to track progress and link to submissions.

hey, i checked out your gallery cause of what you were saying on snapesnoggers journal, wow, you do a lot of good work, i do photography at school, but none of what i've seen there looks as good as yours. I especially love the photos of the mist, i've always loved mist and photos generally look lovely when taken in the mist.

I am a complexly divisive individual capable of a lot of little perplexities that to many have meaning no greater than that of a small gnat. However, to a particularly few I weave a web of scalpels, sown together with fine wine and cheese.
